In July 2011 our caravan will travel in school buses, trucks and cars along 12 different routes, visiting 130 US and Canadian cities. At every stop we will educate people about the blockade while collecting construction supplies and tools, medical supplies and equipment, educational and cultural supplies, to be donated to our sisters and brothers in Cuba. You can join us as we pass through your community, or you can join us when we reach the border in McAllen, TX on July 17th. Read more >

Eyewitness Cuba: Bring speakers to your classroom and community

Have you been looking for a new way to talk about Cuba and Latin
America in your classroom and community? IFCO/Pastors for Peace, an ecumenical
agency with a focus on community organizing and Latin America
solidarity, would like to present to you that possibility – through
bringing experienced educators and organizers of all ages who have
recently visited Cuba into your classroom and community.

Recently Cuba has been in the major media nearly everyday – bringing
up many current and critical questions:

How is Cuba different from how it is portrayed by US media?

How does 50 year-old US economic blockade effect the island?

Why, despite small changes implemented by President Obama in 2009, has
there been no fundamental shift in US policy towards Cuba?

What can we learn from Cuba about building more just, sustainable and
equal world?

What we are able to offer you is nearly 20 years of experience in
visiting and learning from Cuba. Through the US/Cuba Friendshipment
Caravans, thousands of people from the US have been able to see the
Cuban reality for themselves. Alongside this project, IFCO/Pastors for
Peace has also been involved with Congressional delegations, and many
other projects, with a specific emphasis on education about Cuba’s
health care system and medical training programs.

IFCO/Pastors for Peace is also honored to administer the US
scholarships to the Latin American School of Medicine, a medical
school located in Havana, Cuba where over 10,000 students from all
over the US, Latin America, Asia and Africa, are studying to become
doctors free of charge. We would gladly come into you classroom to
talk about this program as well.

All of our experiences can be incorporated into many presentations – with the
unique insight into the future of US/Cuba relations. With us you will
have access to a network of strong, dynamic and powerful people, with
unique perspectives and experience and one thing in common, a strong
record of community organizing.
