Event description:

An event to enable the bay area youth to participate in a grass-roots initiative that connects hiphop artists from the U.S with artists from Cuba as part of the Pastors for Peace friendshipment caravan (an Inter-religious Foundation for CommunityOrganizing IFCO).

The event is intended to raise community awareness of this project/movement. Its an all-ages family event and there will be a variety of art and entertainment. There will be dance performances (break-dancing,capoeira, samba and more..) We will host a juniors (ages 15 and under) breakdance battle for a prize of $100. There will be a slide show of the 2007 and 2008 caravan/hiphop exchange in Cuba.

We will raffle off art from several local SF artists as well as a few live painters. Traditional Cuban food will be offered. Not to mention musical performances, hiphop, spoken word poetry, open mic, soul/funk etc.

The caravan to Cuba challenges the unjust blockade by bringing humanitarian aide from over 120 U.S. and Canadian cities, in an effort to bridge the gap between culturalexchange. The event encourages and inspires the community to view various forms of art and ignites a sense of unity between various cultures and generations.

We are trying to collect enough money/support in order to send a few of our young performers on the caravan as well as pay for the expenses of the event. If you or anyone you know is able to donate for this cause, whether it be monetary or simply time and energy for the production, please contact me. For more info. on the hiphop exchange go to the hiphop without borders~hiphop sin fronteras myspace borderless.hiphop@gmail.com and for info on the caravan check out www.pastorsforpeace.org

As an american i am prayerful that things will change for Cuba. I live in Nevada, and here we have a huge Cuban community often hidden but for the most part often visible.
I am personally interested in getting the word out here in Las vegas, about the great work being done..
