Emergency Reconstruction Caravan to Cuba: latest blog posts

In early September 2008, hurricanes Ike and Gustav, within eight days of each other, battered Cuba, destroying key crops, killing thousands of farm animals and causing an estimated $5 billion in damage. Hundreds of thousands of schools, hospitals and homes were left in need of repair or rebuilding.

IFCO/Pastors for Peace assembled a team of experienced electricians, plumbers, masons and construction workers that travelled to Cuba to aid in reconstruction projects on the island.

In a gesture of solidarity with the people of Cuba, the Hurricane Reconstruction Brigade worked alongside Cubans in Pinar del Rio rebuilding a school for children with special needs.

This blog documents the work and experiences of the IFCO Hurricane Reconstruction Brigade.

The brigade got started right away.
